Toronto Employees Provide Food and Shelter
In November 2007, 10 employees from LexisNexis Canada’s head office in Markham, Ontario, volunteered for a day at the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. Employees sorted food and packaged it to send to member agencies. Food is donated by the food and consumer products industry, as well as by generous individuals. More than 75,000 people in the Toronto region benefit from these food packages.
Also in Toronto, 14 employees, joined by half a dozen friends and family members, took a Cares Day in December 2007 to build townhouses in Scarborough for families in need. Donning hard hats and work boots to support Habitat for Humanity, the team assembled floors, painted walls, performed drywalling tasks and more. The group also raised more than $3,000 for the charity.
