All training is available to customers at no charge. You can count on our cross-Canada team of experienced training and support specialists for thorough, helpful, personalized training and assistance.

Select from one of the following session types below. To register for a scheduled session in one of our offices across Canada, view our training schedule. We also offer web-based sessions, held daily. To discuss your organization’s training needs, please drop us a line.

In Canadian jurisdictions in which CLE/CPD is required, training provided by one of our training and support specialists can now count toward the number of hours you are required to complete on an hour-for-hour basis.
Simply report the training as you would any other training you complete. Upon request, we can provide you with a Certificate of Completion.

 

Quicklaw® Fundamentals

 

Learn the fundamentals of Quicklaw searching using the following enhanced features: content-specific search forms to target specific content types such as court decisions, legislation, commentary, and more; dynamic display options and results filtering to better view, sort, and organize search results; and recent searches and document history to keep track of important searches. Discover how to search by name, citation, or keyword; navigate and refine search results; deliver documents; and note up cases and statutes using the QuickCITE™ Case Citator and the QuickCITE™ Statute Citator.

 

Quicklaw Beyond the Basics

 

This session is for those who have already learned the fundamentals. Learn more about connectors and how to use additional content-specific search forms to target content types such as tribunal decisions, journals, news and companies, and international cases. Discover how to browse and search using related content forms such as Canada Digest and Carlson Personal Injury. Learn how to find specific sources, to customize Quicklaw to suit your preferences, to set up alerts to stay informed and prepared, and to enhance your service with additional features such as Forms & Precedents and Practice Area pages.

 

Searching Canadian Legislation

 

Learn about the Quicklaw collection of federal and provincial legislation, including Point-in-Time statutes collections, which provide provisions in effect on a specified date. Find out about the new QuickCITE Statute Citator, as well as how to search for an entire act, a section of an act, an act’s history, regulations, and bills.

 

Practice Area Pages

 

These sessions focus on a specific area of practice. They include a review of the interface and customized examples focusing on case law, enhanced legislation, and secondary sources. Discover Practice Area pages on Quicklaw, which contain the essential secondary and primary material used by a practitioner in a given area of law. Content includes Canada Digest products and Halsbury’s® Laws of Canada, online versions of leading Butterworths® topical print titles in a given research area, and selected benchmark treatises of general practice — all fully searchable and interactive, with direct hyperlinks to primary material referred to in the text. Note: Each Practice Area page requires a Quicklaw account and a separate subscription.

 

Searching International Materials

 

Quicklaw provides access to essential international primary and secondary content — case law, legislation, commentary, and case citators from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia. The U.K. legal collection is the only electronic resource containing both of the leading U.K. case law resources -- the All England Law Reports and The Law Reports (ICLR). This session includes a review of the interface, and customized examples highlighting U.S. and U.K. case law, legislation, commentary, and citators. Learn about basic search logic, including terms-and-connectors searching, as well as the document viewing, filtering, and delivery options available on Quicklaw. Note: International content requires a Quicklaw account and a separate subscription.

 

News & Companies

 

This session provides an introduction to researching news and companies information on Quicklaw. Quicklaw provides access to thousands of Canadian and international sources including major newspapers, newswires, magazines, and company profiles of U.S. and international public and private corporations. Learn about basic search logic, including terms-and-connectors searching, as well as the document viewing, filtering, and delivery options available on Quicklaw. Note: News & Companies content requires a Quicklaw account and a separate subscription.

PowerInvoice™

 

Learn how to generate Quicklaw usage reports and manage billing information with the powerful and secure PowerInvoice online service.
