At Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, Gary Shiff provided corporate and commercial advice to a broad base of clients, including multinational companies, entrepreneurs, private owner-managed corporations and funds providing equity and/or mezzanine financing to the private sector. Gary focused on commercial transactions involving acquisitions and divestitures (both in Canada and the United States), joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and venture capital and private equity financing. Gary was General Counsel at Welded Tube of Canada.

At Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP Gary Shiff provided corporate and commercial advice to a broad base of clients, including multinational companies, entrepreneurs, private owner-managed corporations and funds providing equity and/or mezzanine financing to the private sector.

Gary focused on commercial transactions involving acquisitions and divestitures (both in Canada and the United States), joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and venture capital and private equity financing. As a result, he has extensive experience working in the private market, including involvement in drafting a broad range of corporate and commercial agreements.

Some of the clients he assisted included those involved in software development, food (manufacturing and distribution), manufacturing, recycling, construction, business services and consumer/trade show exhibitions.

Gary actively participated in legal education. From 1994 to 2004, he was head of the Business Law Section of The Law Society of Ontario bar admission course, where he also taught corporate and commercial law. He has written articles and speaks at conferences sponsored by continuing education conference organizers. He has also presented papers and addressed continuing legal education programs sponsored by The Law Society of Ontario and Osgoode Hall Law School.

Gary takes a great interest in developing the careers of young lawyers, having provided training through the Law Practice Program at Ryerson University, and currently acting as a coach through the Coach and Advisor Network (CAN) of the Law Society of Ontario. From 1979 to 1980, Gary was law clerk to the Chief Justice of Ontario and Justices of the Court of Appeal.
