Born and raised in Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), John practised law as a barrister for 10 years before immigrating to Canada. In Canada, John practised in Nanaimo as General Counsel Lawyer in Residence at University of Victoria for one year.

Born and raised in Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), John practised law as a barrister for 10 years before immigrating to Canada. In Canada, John practised in Nanaimo as General Counsel Lawyer in Residence at University of Victoria for one year.

He was Director of Clinical Programme at University of British Columbia for 3 years and was elected Bencher (Director) of the Law Society of British Columbia for 5 years.

He was member of the Attorney General’s Supreme Court Rules Revision Committee for 25 years and Chair of Committee for 3 years.

John is co-author of “The Conduct of Civil Litigation in British Columbia’ (loose-leaf, published by Lexis Nexis, in print after 41 years) and author of “Court Jurisdiction” published by the British Columbia Law Reform Commission.

John was also Master of the Supreme Court of British Columbia for 13 years.
