Katharine is Legal Counsel at the Ontario Cannabis Store and an instructor in Cannabis Law and Policy at Queen’s Faculty of Law. Having worked in the area of cannabis law since prior to legalization, Katharine has developed expertise in this evolving new industry, including an in-depth understanding of applicable federal and provincial legislation as well as the broader policy, regulatory and corporate/commercial landscape.
Katharine Brickman has legal and policy experience in both the public and private sectors, with a focus on regulated industries in Canada, including beverage alcohol and cannabis. Katharine is currently working as Legal Counsel at the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS), where she advises on a broad range of in-house legal matters. Katharine is also an instructor in Cannabis Law and Policy at the Queen’s University Faculty of Law.
Prior to joining OCS, she was Legal Counsel at Aurora Cannabis, and previously held Senior Policy Advisor positions at the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).
Katharine obtained her Bachelor of Arts (English Literature) from Queen’s University in 2011 and her Juris Doctor (Area of Concentration: Intellectual Property, Information and Technology Law) from Western University in 2014.
Katharine was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015.
