Kiriakoula Hatzikiriakos is a Senior Manager- Legal Counsel in the Retail, Commercial/International sector of the Legal Affairs team at the National Bank of Canada. She advises on all aspects of commercial lending and taking security across Canada and oversees the Bank’s commercial policies and procedures on such matters. She is a member of the Quebec bar and holds a Master of Laws degree. She is Co-President of the Business Section - Banking and Financial Institutions Committee of the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association. She is also Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property Financing Subcommittee of the Commercial Finance Division of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and Regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers. She is a course lecturer on secured transactions and bankruptcy at the Faculty of Law of University of Montreal and the author of the book “Secured Lending in Intellectual Property” with Lexis Nexis (2017).

Prior to her joining the National Bank of Canada, she was a partner in a Canadian law firm where she practiced in the banking and financing group. She has experience in secured transactions, including asset based financing transactions, involving multiple jurisdictions. In addition to her civil law degree, she completed graduate studies and obtained a Master in Law degree from the Institute of Comparative Law of McGill University in Montréal.

She is Co-President of the Business Section - Banking and Financial Institutions Committee of the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association. She is also Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property Financing Subcommittee of the Commercial Finance Division of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and Regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.

Kiriakoula has published several articles and gives various presentations on cross-border secured transactions, as well as on intellectual property financing transactions.
