Ling is a lawyer, a registered patent agent and a trademark agent who advises on a broad range of intellectual property matters, most commonly helping clients protect their intellectual property and innovations.

Ling's practice is focused primarily on the area of patents, including drafting and prosecuting Canadian and foreign patent applications; providing patentability and infringement opinions; and counseling clients in respect of patent-related disputes and litigation. In addition, Ling also routinely provides advice in connection with industrial designs, trademarks and copyrights.

Ling has represented clients from a wide range of industry sectors, including some of the most established companies in the high-tech, information technology, oil and gas, cleantech, chemical, medical devices, food and beverage and consumer goods industries, as well as relative juniors and startups in these sectors.

Ling also has extensive experience advising on the IP aspects of commercial transactions.
