Michelle Kinney is a family and fertility lawyer at Cassels Murray, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Michelle moved into private practice in March 2014 after spending 6 years with the British Columbia Provincial Government, Ministry of Justice, working on British Columbia's extensive family law reform. As one of the architects of the British Columbia Family Law Act and Regulations, Michelle has an in-depth and unique view of the law.
Michelle is a co-founder of Fertility Law B.C. Michelle is accredited by the Law Society as a family law mediator and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Victoria Bar Association. Michelle received her law degree from the University of Victoria.
In addition to her private practice, Michelle taught the Family Law course at the University of British Columbia Allard Law School in 2015. She is a regular presenter on the British Columbia Family Law and is a contributor to a range of educational material on family law, law reform, family violence and parentage/fertility law.
Michelle's personal experience as a single mother navigating the family justice system also provides her with a unique understanding of the issues faced by clients. When Michelle is not practising law, she can be found spending time with her loved ones, renovating houses or travelling. She grew up in the sunny Okanagan town of Summerland.
