Nicola Allen

Nicola obtained her undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University in 2005 in Criminology and Psychology, her law degree from the University of British Columbia in 2008 and was called to the bar of British Columbia in May of 2009. She is a partner at the firm of Schuman Daltrop Basran & Robin and has a practice with a focus exclusively on family law. Nicola has appeared at Provincial, Supreme and Appellate Court levels. She has also been a contributor to programs through the Continuing Legal Education Society in the area of family law and she has edited chapters in family law CLE publications. She is a member of the executive and past chair of the CBA Family Subsection for Vancouver and volunteers with the Access Pro Bono program providing free legal services to low income parties.

Nicola joined the firm of Schuman Daltrop Basran & Robin as a student in 2006, an associate in 2009 and as a partner in 2017. Nicola has had a primary focus on family law since she began at the firm.

Nicola has represented her clients at the Provincial Court, Supreme Court and Appellate Court levels in British Columbia, has negotiated settlements for her clients and drafted marriage and separation agreements which address a variety of issues.

Nicola was a contributor and presenter at the 2012 Family Law Drafting Course offered through the Continuing Legal Education Society and has assisted in editing a chapter of the Annotated Family Practice Manual and Family Law Annotated Agreements Manual. She is also a member of the Executive and past chair of the Canadian Bar Association Family Subsection in Vancouver.

Nicola is currently a volunteer with the Access Pro Bono program providing legal services specific to the area of family law to lower income parties. She is also a member in good standing of the Canadian Bar Association Family Law subsection.
