Philip R. White is an employment lawyer who represents both employers and employees. His litigation practice includes acting as legal counsel in wrongful dismissal actions, human rights applications, judicial reviews and disputes involving allegations that former employees have breached their restrictive covenants. Phil is the author of the educational website www.employmentlaw101.ca, which provides both employees and human resources managers with a practical overview of the law of the workplace in Ontario. He is also a contributor to Employment Bulletin.

Philip R. White represents both employers and employees in all areas of employment and labour law. His litigation practice includes acting as legal counsel in: wrongful dismissal cases (including constructive dismissals and terminations for just cause); disputes involving allegations that former employees have breached the non-competition and non-solicitation obligations in their employment contracts; human rights cases involving allegations of discrimination and harassment in the workplace (including sexual harassment and assault); disputes involving alleged breach of fiduciary duties; and judicial reviews.

In addition, Phil's legal practice includes providing strategic human resources advice to employers and drafting employment contracts and workplace policies and procedures as well as reviewing employment contracts for employees and senior executives. In particular, Phil has extensive experience reviewing termination clauses, stock option plans, bonus plans and non-solicitation and non-competition clauses; advising independent contractors about their legal rights in the workplace and at the time of dismissal; and advising and coaching employees who are experiencing harassment, bullying or discrimination in the workplace; have had their job responsibilities or salaries reduced; believe that their employer is trying to force them to resign from their employment; have been placed on a performance improvement plan; and/or who fear they are about to be terminated from their employment for just cause.

Phil is the author of the educational website www.employmentlaw101.ca. Employment Law 101 provides both employees and human resources managers a practical overview of the law of the workplace in Ontario. He is also a contributor to the Employment Bulletin, published by Canada Law Book.

Prior to commencing a career in the practice of law, Phil worked both in human resources departments and as an agency recruiter focusing on information technology professionals. He was also a key account manager working for a large manufacturing company responsible for both automotive and industrial clients in Canada and the United States.
