Ronald J. Smith, Q.C., graduated from the University of British Columbia law school in 1974, and has practised in B.C. since 1975. He was most recently a partner in the law firm Smith Peacock Lawyers in Kelowna, B.C. Ronald started Just Family Solutions Mediation & Arbitration in 2013, when he decided to focus his attention on mediation, bringing the voice of children to resolution of high conflict separation and divorce situations, and arbitration.

Ronald is a founding Board Member and is a past Vice-Chair of the B.C. Mediator Roster Society (now Mediate B.C.). Ron is also a past Chair and Executive Board Member of the Continuing Legal Education Society of B.C. ("CLE"), and a founding Board Member and past Chair of the B.C. Hear the Child Society.

Ron as lectured for the Continuing Legal Education Society, the Justice Institute, the Canadian Judicial Institute, ADR Institute Canada and the Canadian Bar Association, B.C., in the areas of interviewing children, mediation, the new Family Law Act and arbitration.
