His specific experience includes: management labour relations, including certification proceedings, grievance arbitration and collective bargaining; occupational health and safety, including training and defence; human rights and employment/termination litigation; human resource issues in the context of commercial transactions, including acquisitions and insolvency proceedings; and change management, including compensation redesign, plant relocations and closures, and contracting out of critical functions.

Experience

  • Represented the interests of the executive management team employed by a company that was acquired for over $100 million and successfully negotiated their new employment and business restriction arrangements
  • Successfully acted as lead litigation counsel in a multi-year dispute with former members of his client's management team who embarked on competing ventures contrary to the client's interests
  • Advised a U.S.-based client in the shut-down of several facilities in Ontario, including the associated termination planning and the negotiation of closure arrangements with the applicable union
  • Effectively developed and implemented a national labour relations strategy for a large, multiprovincial employer
