Sonia is Chair of Osler’s National Litigation Department and Past President of the Advocates’ Society. Sonia has extensive experience defending companies in commercial arbitrations, class actions and other complex litigation. She advises clients on strategies for managing risk and cross-border issues in multi-jurisdictional cases. Sonia is an “extremely dedicated” and “tireless advocate” ranked among Canada’s top litigators in numerous national and international directories. She is a frequent speaker and author on class action and commercial arbitration issues.

Sonia is Chair of Osler’s National Litigation Department and Past President of the Advocates’ Society. Sonia has extensive experience defending companies in commercial arbitration and other complex litigation, including advising clients on strategies for managing risks and cross-border issues in multi-jurisdictional cases. She litigates business-critical issues related to commercial agreements, banking, construction, data and privacy, directors' duties and shareholder remedies.

Sonia is a founding member and former Executive Committee member of the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society (TCAS), a former board member of ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC), and a former Executive Committee and Advisory Committee member of the Young Commercial Arbitration Practitioners (YCAP).

The Government of Canada has appointed Sonia to the CUSMA Article 31.22 Advisory Committee on Private Commercial Disputes which will focus on the use of arbitration and other means of alternative dispute resolution to resolve international commercial disputes.

Prior to joining Osler as a lawyer, Sonia clerked for the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
