Tevia is a partner with the Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group and is an attorney licensed to practise in the state of New York. Tevia's practice includes advising debtors, creditors, trustees and receivers on issues arising in corporate restructuring and insolvency proceedings, distressed asset purchases, debt recovery and security realization. Tevia has been involved in restructuring and insolvencies in a variety of industries, including mining, real estate, forestry, technology, energy and retail. Her practice frequently involves cross-border considerations.

Since joining Dentons, Tevia's practice has included advising debtors, creditors, trustees and receivers on issues arising in corporate restructuring and insolvency proceedings, distressed asset purchases, debt recovery and security realization. Prior to joining Dentons, Tevia practised at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP in New York in the area of corporate restructuring and bankruptcy law, which included debtor and creditor representations, in- and out-of-court restructurings, insurance insolvency and rehabilitation, corporate governance advice for distressed companies, debtor-in-possession financing, and distressed asset purchases.

Tevia has been involved in restructuring and insolvencies in a variety of industries, including mining, real estate, forestry, technology, energy and retail. Her practice frequently involves cross-border considerations.

Tevia has published and presented on numerous issues related to restructuring and insolvency. She is a member of the editorial board of and a regular contributor to the Annual Review of Insolvency Law. She is also a member of the Vancouver committee of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation.

Experience

  • Counsel to Rokstad Power Corporation & Affiliates in re-acquiring from the Carillion Group full ownership of the businesses and undertakings of the Rokstad Power Group of Companies.
  • Counsel to Ernst & Young as court-appointed monitor of the Veris Gold Group of Companies in connection with the Group's CCAA proceedings in Canada as well as Chapter 15 proceedings in the U.S.
  • Counsel to Vistara Capital Partners in its capacity as lender, DIP Lender and as agent for itself and Beedie Capital Partners in the CCAA restructuring of GuestLogix Inc. and its affiliates.
  • Counsel to North American Tungsten Corporation Ltd. in all aspects of its restructuring proceedings under the CCAA.
