Timothy's practice is focused on regulatory compliance for federally-regulated financial institutions and securities registrants, including dealers, advisers and investment fund managers. Prior to entering private practice, Timothy spent nearly 20 years working in-house in the financial services industry. Most recently, he served as Senior Counsel and Director, Market Regulation Policy at the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada ("IIROC"). He has a Master of Laws degree, with a specialization in banking and financial services, from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Timothy has valuable legal and compliance experience gained through a career that includes nearly 20 years in the financial services industry.

Timothy has held senior roles at RBC Insurance, RBC Dominion Securities, Laurentian Bank (B2B Trust), CIBC Asset Management and BMO Harris Private Banking. Most recently, he served as Senior Counsel and Director, Market Regulation Policy at the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada.

Following the completion of his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto, Timothy went on to study common law at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto and civil law at la Faculté de droit de l’Université de Montréal and was granted a Juris Doctor degree. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1992. In 2007, he received a Master of Laws degree, with a specialization in banking and financial services, from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Timothy is a published author and has been a featured speaker on topics related to regulatory compliance. He has also been a guest lecturer for Osgoode Hall Law School’s Professional Master of Laws Program.
